Chotot – Full Moon Gathering – Family night
The Mid Autumn Festival is a Traditional Festival, held on 15th day of eighth month of Lunar Calendar. The festival is mostly celebrated in Asian Countries, like Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, China, etc. Especially, in the inner most of every Vietnamese, Mid Autumn Festival triggers memories about Family, friends, and childhood.
For Children, this is a holiday, when they can lighten up their lanterns and enjoy Lion dance. For adult, this is an occasion for friendship, partnership and companionship, to share moon cake with family and friends. And for Chotot, this is an opportunity to express our gratitude to all our members for being the integral part of Cho Tot family.
Last Thursday, we celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival in the most unique way – Baking Moon Cake – a bakery product, particularly served and gifted during the Festival. Let’s see how we enjoy our “Full Moon Gathering”
We departed from our office for the venue in that afternoon of Thursday Sept 8th 2016. We all certainly have tried moon cake before, but baking it is another the story.
There she is, the lady in red apron. She is meticulously giving instruction on how to bake the most delicious Moon cake.
Now, this is our time to perform magic, making Moon cake.
First, we mix the flour with sugar water. This is for the crest of the cake
Then, we stir fry the filling, which contains of …whichever we are supplied with
Gently wrap the filling with the dough and creating the shape of our Moon cake. This is also where our creativity sparks.
Finally, put them in the oven and enjoy a short break.
Happy birthday to you, Fruties of August and September
After few minutes waiting, ladies and gentlemen, we want to present to you, our Chotot-made Moon cake.
And we have the final decision from our judges for a small baking competition.
It’s time to pack and send them to our beloved one.
That’s how we celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together. Thank you for finishing this long post.
We wish you and your family a happy Mid Autumn Festival!
